Just a few suggestions of nearby places to visit

North Yorkshire is not only one of the most beautiful places in Britain to walk, with the stark beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and the unspoiled coastline, but it is also packed with many places for both local residents and tourists to visit.

Many of these attractions and places to visit are close to our studio/showroom, allowing visitors to make the most of a trip to the area.

Captain Cook country: Born in Marton, Middlesbrough and educated in Great Ayton, Captain James Cook is a local celebrity. Hollow Creations is close to a number of attractions and tours celebrating one of our county’s most famous characters.

Details of museums, places to see and a tour of places associated with him can be found at            www.captaincook.org.uk

Thirsk:  An old fashioned market town, whose most famous inhabitant was perhaps James Herriott (Alf Wright). Alf’s life and work were captured in his series of books which in turn formed the basis of the BBC series ‘All Creatures Great & Small’.  His practice in Thirsk has been restored and is now open to the public, displaying equipment he used as well as props from the BBC series. The “World of James Herriott” is just off the town centre.

Mount Grace Priory: The ruin of a 14th-century and England's most important Carthusian ruin. The individual cells reflect the hermit-like isolation of the monks.

An English Heritage site, the priory is situated about a mile from Hollow Creations on the A19 at Staddle Bridge, Northallerton, North Yorkshire DL6 3JG

Northallerton: County town of North Yorkshire and home to both the famous Betty’s Tea shop and the renowned gourmet food store Lewis & Cooper

North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one oldest historic train lines in Northern England with steam engines running between Pickering and Grosmont.  The railway has featured in many films, including the Harry Potter films and is open daily from April to October.
